2019 - 2022
The MOBILIZE project aimed to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for individuals with multimorbidity by developing and evaluating a comprehensive intervention that combined exercise and education with behavior change strategies. The project sought to empower participants to better manage their conditions, prevent further complications, and enhance their overall well-being through personalized and evidence-based approaches.
During my time as a postdoctoral researcher with the MOBILIZE project at the University of Southern Denmark, I played a key role in developing and evaluating the self-management component of the intervention. My work involved designing a comprehensive, person-centered approach to empower individuals with multimorbidity to manage their conditions more effectively. Collaborating closely with physiotherapists, I applied my expertise in behavior change, self-management, and mixed-method research to ensure the intervention was both evidence-based and tailored to participants' needs.
Over the course of the project, I contributed to 16 research outputs, including 14 journal articles and 2 conference abstracts, which were collectively cited over 240 times. I also mentored a Master’s student in physiotherapy and contributed to teaching on quality development in physiotherapy, further enhancing the educational and practical impact of the project. This work was conducted under the supervision of Professor Søren T. Skou.
The MOBILIZE project provided me with invaluable opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary research, working alongside physiotherapists, medical doctors, nutritionists, and social scientists. This experience reinforced my commitment to bridging gaps between disciplines and demonstrated the importance of holistic, collaborative approaches to health interventions. My involvement in MOBILIZE not only expanded my academic expertise but also reaffirmed my dedication to advancing innovative, patient-centered care.
