MIND - mental health charity

(London, UK, 2010-2013)
As a volunteer for Mind, I had the privilege of organizing the Creative Minds Project, where I worked closely with young people experiencing mental health challenges, using creative activities as a way to support their emotional well-being and self-expression. This role allowed me to foster a safe and supportive environment for participants to explore their creativity and build confidence.
In addition to leading this initiative, I was part of Mind's Mentoring Program, providing guidance and support to individuals navigating their mental health journeys. I also contributed to the team responsible for organizing World Mental Health Day, helping to coordinate events that raised awareness and promoted open conversations about mental health in the community. These experiences deepened my understanding of the importance of mental health advocacy and reinforced my commitment to supporting others.

Pain Toolkit workshops - people with persistent pain

(Swansea, Wales, 2018)
I had the opportunity to organize Pain Toolkit workshops for the community in Swansea, which focused on promoting self-management and empowering individuals living with persistent pain. The workshops featured Pete Moore, the creator of the Pain Toolkit, who shared practical pain management strategies and encouraged participants to take a more active role in their health and well-being. These sessions provided a supportive environment where attendees could learn tools to better manage their pain, improve their quality of life, and build confidence in their ability to make positive changes.

IOB Temporary Employment Committee

(University of Southern Denmark, 2019-2020)
This committee aimed to address and improve the conditions of temporary employment within the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics. Our mission was to identify and tackle the challenges faced by individuals in temporary positions, such as career uncertainty, lack of clarity in employment pathways, and limited support for progression.
We focused on promoting transparency, advocated for longer and more sustainable employment practices, and ensuring that temporary employees are equipped with the tools and guidance they need for professional growth—both within and beyond the university. We worked to foster a fairer and more supportive academic environment for all.

Advocating for Patient and Public involvement in research

(Denmark)
I have been deeply committed to strengthening collaboration between researchers and patient organizations to advocate for the needs of individuals living with multimorbidity. Inspired by the recognition that these partnerships are vital, I have worked to foster meaningful dialogue between stakeholders. My efforts have focused on creating opportunities for patients and carers to share their lived experiences, ensuring that research priorities align with the realities of those living with multiple chronic conditions.
Through initiatives such as co-designing research projects, facilitating workshops, and advocating for inclusive health strategies, I have aimed to empower patients to take an active role in shaping the research agenda. These collaborations have not only highlighted the importance of tailoring interventions to the unique needs of people with multimorbidity but also reinforced my commitment to bridging the gap between research, policy, and real-world healthcare practices.
